Adjustable Bench Stop Replacement Instructions

Introduction:

This procedure will explain the steps to successfully replace the damaged or missing bench stops.

Gather Necessary Tools and Materials
  • Cordless Drill
  • 13mm Drill Bit (A single 13mm drill bit is suitable for use on a maximum of two benches.)
  • Plastic sheeting or drop cloth
  • Vacuum
  • Bench stop repair kit (2 per bench)

Each kit contains:  2 clipped washers, 1 metal sleeve, 2 rubber bumpers, 1 bolt and 1 lock nut

1.  Before you begin, locate the bench in an area away from the lifting platforms to avoid metal shavings becoming embedded in the flooring. Use blankets and/or plastic sheeting to protect the floor and bench from metal shavings.

Caution: Metal shavings may pose a risk of injury if not properly managed. Please exercise caution when drilling or handling metal components to prevent the creation and spread of metal shavings. Use appropriate safety equipment such as gloves and safety goggles, and ensure that work areas are kept clean and free of debris. Dispose of metal shavings responsibly to avoid potential hazards.

2.  By hand, remove the existing rubber stoppers (total quantity 2 per bench) by twisting them counterclockwise. There are 2 stoppers per bench.

3.  With the bench on the drop cloth, Tip the bench on its side.

4.  Using a 13mm drill bit, drill through the original hole, being careful to maintain proper alignment and not warble (oversize) the hole.

5.  Press the cylindrical metal sleeve through the hole and center within the curved rack adjustment arm.

6.  Place a rubber bumper on each side of the exposed sleeve.

7.  Place a clipped washer on the bolt and slide through the sleeve.

8.  Place a clipped washer on the threaded side of the bolt and hand-fasten the nut.

9.  With the bench seat in the horizontal position, align the clipped (flat) side of both washers to be parallel to the bench frame. Tighten and verify the washer position did not rotate. Adjust if necessary.

10.  Next, while pulling on the bench pull pin, raise the seat 2-3" and drop to ensure system functionality. The washers should not make contact with the frame.

11.  Finally, ensure the the bench and working area is clean and free from any metal shavings.
